When we come to believe in Jesus as Lord and Savior, our lives become united to Christ's life. We begin a journey of faith, united to Christ. We renounce service to sin and give our loyalty and service to Christ.
1. BECAUSE JESUS COMMANDED IT.
He commanded his disciples to baptize those whom they had taught. The implication is that those who have been taught the Gospel should willingly submit to Christian baptism. (Matthew 28:19)
2. BECAUSE JESUS MODELED IT.
Though sinless, he walked seventy miles to be baptized by John in the river Jordan in order to fulfill all righteousness. If it was the right thing for him to do, how much more vital is it for sinners such as we all are? (Matthew 3:13-15
3. BECAUSE BAPTISM IS COUPLED WITH FAITH AND LINKED TO SALVATION IN THE TEACHING OF JESUS.
“He who believes and is baptized shall be saved”. (Mark 16:16)
4. BECAUSE BAPTISM IS LINKED WITH REPENTANCE AND THE FORGNENESS OF SINS IN THE TEACHING OF THE APOSTLES.
“Repent and be baptized for the remission (forgiveness) of sins … “. (Acts 2:38)
God never puts an age limit on who can be saved. Therefore, there is no age limit about baptism. If we are to be baptized after we believe, and if God does not limit the age at which one can be saved, then there is not an age limit for baptism. God never limits the age for salvation or baptism.
Once you have prepared, the church will help you schedule the baptism.
Most churches allow and even encourage guests to attend the ceremony. You may extend formal, email, or verbal invitations. We just ask that photographers be respectful of the sacred space and reverent for the occasion.
